Wick sticks — dry, instant, nothing on the skin, effect ends when you cap it.
Oil roll-ons — applied to temples, neck, wrists or sore muscles; the aroma keeps working for hours and the oil soothes where you rolled it.
Balms and jars — strongest on skin, but messy and hard to use in public.
Look for named botanicals — menthol, camphor, borneol, eucalyptus, peppermint, clove, cinnamon — rather than the word "fragrance" alone. A vague list usually means synthetic aroma doing the work.
Origin matters too: Thai-made herbal formulas come from a long domestic tradition of daily use.
Volatile aromatics fade. A capped stick loses strength within weeks of opening; sealed glass with a rollerball holds far longer. Ask how much product you get — 8ml of oil is a lot of applications.
Cooling mint for a blocked head. Warm orange or cinnamon for tired muscles and cold mornings. Lemongrass or citrus for focus and travel fatigue.
